FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Where/How do I request a Professional Development day?

District Catalog Offerings:

If you find a workshop in the MLP District Catalog that applies to you, you may enroll.  If the enrollment is restricted, contact the PD office to request approval to enroll. PLEASE, DO NOT ENROLL IN RESTRICTED WORKSHOPS WITHOUT PERMISSION!
If you require a substitute: upon approval through MLP, your absence will be transferred to SAMS and logged as a request for "Professional Leave"
 

If you find a FREE workshop you want to attend during a regular school day or plan to pay for the registration yourself:  

Complete the "Request for Professional Development Day" form in MLP at least 4-6 weeks (10 school day, minimum) prior to the workshop to ensure there is time to complete the approval process.  It is the responsibility of the requestor to make sure MLP permission is granted prior to attending a workshop.  Please inform all approvers if time is of the essence.  Do not attend a workshop without receiving all approvals in MLP.

If a workshop requires a registration fee in advance:

Complete the "Request for Professional Development Day" form in MLP at least 10 weeks in advance (8 weeks, minimum) and  far enough in advance to ensure you will have time to register at the lowest possible rate.  (You must select "pay in advance" and seek reimbursement upon proper approval, completion of activity and submission of appropriate documentation.)

Once you receive MLP approval to attend: 

If the workshop fee is greater than $150, Board approval is required. Contact the PD office to make sure workshop fee is placed on the agenda for Board approval 
register and pay for the workshop 
your absence will be transferred to SAMS and logged as a request for "Professional Leave"

 

Where/How do I record/log my events/hours?

Professional Development Day: use the "Request for PD Day" form in MLP prior to event to seek approval to attend a workshop.  Upon return, complete follow up evaluation of workshop and submit to request final approval.  (You must also submit a PD Staff Turnkey Report and all necessary documention, including Expense Form, for requested reimbursement to your building admin/secretary as per board policy)  
Common Planning Form: use this form to record all monthly contact meetings or activities during Common Planning times.  These logs can be submitted monthly for approval.
PD Log: use this form to request hours for the following

GCN Training (total of 3.0 hours)
PD 360 Videos
In-district workshops/activities not held during common planning
any activities that did not require a Request for PD Day form

Historical Data Import Form: This form, which is only used to upload large batches of data that you have completed in years pastm is no longer available.  This is only for new MLP users.
