APSD students traveled to Madison Square Garden to attend MSG's Black History Month Program. The trip was made possible by Kenny Michel, Inside Sales Representative for MSG and a former Blue Bishop. The trip was coordinated by Larrick Daniels, APSD educator and Polemarch of the Asbury Park Neptune Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
A special thank you goes to Asa Murray, owner of Harley-Davidson Lakewood and Long Branch and member of Kappa Alpha Psi, who sponsored the cost for the 20 students and chaperones who attended. During the visit, students were treated to a panel dedicated to exploring diversity in sports. Panelists included: former Knicks players Charles Smith, Allan Houston and John Wallace; Steve Mills: Knicks President; Scott Perry: Knicks General Manager; Craig Robinson: Michelle Obama’s brother and Knicks VP Player Development & Minor League Operations; Jamaal Lesane: SVP Legal, Business Teams & Sports Events; and Swin Cash: WNBA Legend and Director of Player Development for the Liberty. Attendees got an added bonus as the NY Knicks defeated the Orlando Magic 108 to 103.
