A Message from Our Superintendent

Sancha K. Gray

It is with great joy and excitement that I assume the role of Superintendent of Schools for the Asbury Park School District. Our district is one that has been defined as the most rapidly improving district in the nation by Ed Week in November 2016. This distinction represents the collective work of the entire Asbury Park School District Family. It is my goal to continue adding to the significant gains we have made, always keeping in mind our pledge of “Building a Brighter Future” for our students, families, staff and the community. Together, WE have changed the perception of the Asbury Park School District by what we believe, have done and continue to do. Our graduation rate has increased; students are making steady, incremental gains in literacy and mathematics; we have been recognized for the third year in a row as an Innovative District and so much more!

We will continue "Building a Brighter Future" through our new pillars:

  • What: Performance – the action or process of carrying out a task.
  • How: with Passion – an intense desire or enthusiasm for something
  • Tied to our Why: Purpose – the reason for which something is created or exists.

Additionally, our district will remain student-centered by being attentive and responsive to their needs as this is the best way to ensure that they will be prepared for the 21st Century.

Sancha K. Gray, Superintendent of Schools

We understand that  parents/caregivers have seen things on social media that have caused
them to be concerned. The Asbury Park School District  takes the safety of all students and
staff seriously and we will continue to work with local government partners to ensure that
we maintain a safe and comfortable education environment. We will continue to provide
updates as warranted.
