Meeting of the Minds
A Meeting of the Minds
Posted on 10/14/2022
Superintendent Dr. RaShawn M. Adams recently met with students Kalum Corr (10th grade),
Guadalupe Hernandez Nava (12th grade), and Sarai Hernandez Martinez (11th grade) as a continuation of both the Superintendent's Advisory Committee and the newly created student Board of Education representative initiative. Kalum and Sarai are both representatives to the board that will alternate providing a report and representing the student perspective at meetings. Guadalupe is on the Superintendent's Advisory and had previously discussed with Dr. Adams the need for a mentoring program across the district that better prepares younger students for the expectations of the high school.
During the most recent gathering. Dr. Adams further discussed the implementation of a mentoring program as students envisioned it. The group also discussed ongoing school culture issues at the high school and Dr. Adams empowered students to think of ways to bring the spirit of their younger school experiences to the high school. The students stressed that they want to create more reasons for families to choose APHS.
Stay tuned.....
